A SPECIAL PLEA FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

In past years, a handful of people have taken it upon themselves to launch illegal fireworks on our beach over July 4th weekend.  The Executive Committee would like to remind everyone that fireworks are dangerous and illegal and would like to stress that we do not condone this activity.  Members who do not comply may have their Membership suspended or terminated.  The Toms River Police Department has also informed all the beaches that they will have a “no tolerance” mandate in effect and will arrest and prosecute anyone caught with illegal fireworks.

SILVER BEACH LIFEGUARD TOURNAMENT

Silver Beach will host its annual Lifeguard Tournament on Saturday, July 19th at 6pm, just after the guards go off duty.  Come out and cheer on our crew!!  They work real hard in these events and need our support.

BEACH WHEELCHAIR

Thanks to the generosity of our members, we are able to acquire a beach wheelchair for use at the beach.  To make arrangements to use the wheelchair, call the Badge House at 732-793-8357 between 9am and 6pm when the guards are on duty.

FAMIY MOVIES ON THE BEACH

We have collected about half the funds needed to acquire the equipment for family movies on the beach.  We will keep you posted as other contributions come in.

GOOD-BYE “OL’ YELLER”

After almost 20 years of faithful duty, “ol’ yeller”, the large yellow slide at the Bay Beach succumbed to the salt air and weather and had to be removed for safety reasons.  At the Spring Meeting it was suggested that we begin a collection to replace the slide.  It will cost approximately $5,000 to replace “ol’ yeller”.  If you care to contribute, please contact Gabby Dudas at 908-812-8112.

OFF-LEASH DOG PARK

Does your dog miss the exercise he gets in his own backyard at home?  Well, if you are willing to take a short ride, you can exercise your dog at the Off-Leash Dog Park in Ocean County Park on Rt. 88 in Lakewood.  There is an annual registration fee.  For further information, see the website:
